Mike and Perry's Excellent Adventure

First, let me preface this trip by saying our goal was to play in as many station rooms as we could before LVM had to go home at 7 am. (WE HAVE WAY TOO MUCH FREE TIME!)I, on the other hand, had to be home by 3pm Tuesday. We both made it.

Our evening starts at 9:30 at GVR. I get in the 4-8 game. I start winning and the game breaks up. Mike, Sabrina and I decide to continue our search for the best game at Sunset at around 11pm. We get there and play 4-8 for 3 hours. Great action!

At around 2:30am Sabrina leaves us to get sleep. As the only responsible adult out on this little adventure, she has to go to work in the morning. Mike and I on the other hand go to the Boulder Station to look for pancakes. (This is our first bad beat.) The coffee shop is not open. So we hop in the car and go to Sam's town a mile down the Boulder "strip". Well their coffee shop is not open (2nd bad beat), but their deli is and we have Italian hoagies.

Around 3am we get to Boulder. The 4-8 hold'em has broken down(3rd bad beat). So even though I am not a great Omaha player, I sit down. Mike is in Heaven. Omaha high and smoking in the poker room. The smoking is the reason we went to Boulder Station. The action in that game is crazy. The pots are like $200 to $300 each. I drop 2 racks. I am not the greatest 4-8 limit Omaha player in Las Vegas.

At around 5am we are both almost felted in this goofy Omaha game, so we decide to continue our search for the best 4-8 hold'em game. We go to Texas station around 5:30am. (I get pulled over for speeding on Rancho. The cop lets me go. He was aware of my important research that night and did not want to slow me down!!!)There is a 4-8 hold'em game with overs. This makes it more of a hybrid limit/nolimit game. I play there for 3 hours. The staff is great there and Sabrina is the one that cashes me out.

I get home around 9am, 12 hours after leaving my home to play poker. I am down, thank you Omaha, but happy. I have played in 3 rooms that I don't get to that much, GVR, Sunset & Boulder. And one that I hit about once a week, Texas. All the staffs are great and the rooms are run well. I will try and return to each of these locations to play.

At noon I go to Red Rock for lunch. I am pretty pokered out.

Of the four rooms I played in last night, three had 4-8 limit hold'em. I felt the action was the best THAT NIGHT at Sunset. This is probably because I won the most there. That being said, all four rooms and Red Rock, which I didn't play last night but I often do, have great action and are well run.

I did realize two inportant things from this trip. You should always have a backup room. If your game breaks down, like it did in two of the rooms, you are only 15 minutes away from another room that has good games. But more importantly, I SPEND WAY TOO MUCH TIME IN POKER ROOMS!!!

Good Luck,

Perry
