Mission Accomplished
I have beeen visiting Vegas since 2003 and every trip is just great fun.
This report is a little late and covers my last stay in May 2008.
I have two aims. One is to get the wife and kids some really quality presents,to ease the way for the next trip and the second aim is to come home with at least as many $$$'s as i arrived with.
My advise is avoid all forms of casino games except poker.Craps, blackjack and roulette will bleed you dry, poker will, with some skill allow you to keep a healthy bankroll.
I have payed most poker rooms on the strip, but this time i concentrated on Caesars tournaments and the MGM cash games.
I entered a $65 tourny with about 70 runners and got a 5th place, which although it didn't make me rich, it did my confidence the world of good.
I enterted the same tourny the following day and really enjoyed the banter with some familiar faces from the previous day. This time with two tables remaining i played very aggressivley from good positions and hit the final table with 2nd biggest stack. With 5 players left i got pocket 10s in LP pushed and got called all-in by the BB.I call and he shows KK.Magic Magic flop of 4 10 10 for quads.Like the KK guy said,he could understand one 10 but two..really not fair.Anyway i ended up chopping 1st place with a super aggressive middle aged fella from Texas. We split $1400 with $100 each in tips.
The other hand of interest came on our final morning. At this stage after drinking, eating and presents i was $200 up for the whole trip,so i sat down in The MGM played $1/$2.After 30 mins i'm sat with about $230 when EP raises to $30 he gets a caller and from SB with 68off suit i make a very loose call.I'm hoping for two pair at least or i'm folding .Flop 5 7 9 rainbow.OK now i've got violins going off in my head.I'm all-in both call. The other two play for a bigger side pot and after the river i'm up against pocket KK's and pocket QQ's.
I'm back in May,cant wait.
Next trip i'll take the advise on this site and visit the poker room at TI.
Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables from over in the sunny UK.
