I stayed at the Sahara and played there once the last night in town.

First night I played at the Hilton and was slightly profitable after 3 hours of play. The dealers were okay except for one in training who was way too hyper, talkative and error prone. Management was good and fair, capable of handling disputes and incidents of which there were only a few.

The players were very friendly and several locals play there to accumulate hours for the Monthly FreeRoll tournament which has a $10,000 prize. I made quick friendships with two of the locals and they provided me with good competition and fun.
The Hilton has free copies of Card Player magazine available. I will play there again.

Second night I went to an event at the Mandalay House of Blues and then played at the Luxor.
The Luxor has a very good room which is clean, relatively quiet and out of the way without being isolated. The dealers are well groomed, friendly, professional and capable of handling play at a busy table with experts and beginners alike. They politely and fairly explained rules and bet procedures. Management is friendly, courteous and professional.

I played at the Luxor Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights and was profitable each time.
I played a short session at the MGM Grand Thursday afternoon and lost my session limit at 3/6, just bad cards though and when I got a decent starting hand, no flop to match. I played one or two hands out to be beaten by a kicker. Not much to say about the room as I wasn't there long enough to have much of an opinion. I didn't like the marble table surface in front of the player which is a reason why I will think twice about playing there again. Other than that I have no complaints about the MGM room.

Thursday night I played at the Sahara so I wouldn't have a long trek at the end of the night as I was leaving first thing Friday morning.
The Sahara poker room is too smoky for me even though it is a non smoking room. Bystanders are allowed to smoke right on the rails and the Casino is a smoky one as well.

The tables are getting a bit long in the tooth but are sufficient for play. The dealers were good but not as well groomed as the Luxor dealers.
The Players ranged from good to average to easy and I had fun, competition, a good social experience. I was profitable at this table as well.

My favorite room is the Luxor and on the next trip I will explore some other rooms although the Luxor will definitely be on my rounds.

I left Vegas with more cash in pocket than when I arrived and never had to visit an ATM.
