Stayed at the Golden Nugget, downtown so thats where most of my poker was played , they spread $2-4 , $4-8 and $1-2 NL , they also have daily tournements as well. It was a nice enough room and the manegment did a good job of keeping the tables filled and opening new tables when their was enough waiting . The dealers were fine and the cocktail service was also above average. The 2-4 games were typical low limit chase-fests that one could expect.

The real interesting part was the players , I ran into more angry , crazy, grumpy and angle shooting players than I have anywhere else.

I usually played mid morning (while the wife was sleeping) and the table usually consisted of 5-6 tourists including myself and a couple of locals ,which was sure to include at least one psycho who would put a damper on the whole game.

Examples included , the most obnoxius drunk I have EVER seen at a poker table , this guy would not shut up and all he did was put down the other players while glaring at anyone who either raised him or won a pot.(dealers never once told him to cool it) A woman ,dressed like a wanna be jetsetter complete with fake fur coat and euro accent , who after buying in for $60 proceeded to browbeat the waitress for not bringing her some expensive cognac because she was in the poker room until 2:30 the previous night and had lost $500 , but obviouisly the cheap stuff was good enough because she slammed it as fast as they would bring it , slamming her empty glass into the cupholder and screaming for the cocktail waitress wether she was in the room or not. This woman was a complete calling station , a gutshot , 2 overs , 1 over, hell a backdoor runner runnner 2 gap gutter she was staying in until the end. When she missed she would slam her cards down ask for a set up and/or a new dealer. That was all well and good until she started hitting and going on a bit of a heater, she then asked to see mucked losing hands ,admonished the other players and generally had half the table on tilt and the other half just annoyed. The "best" character was this toothless woman who looked homeless who returned to the table I was newly seated at and started shaking and ranting about her horrible back pain she then dug into shopping bag and pulled out a bottle of tylenol and took a handful , the next item out of the bag was a tube of liniment , off to the bathroom she goes and comes back later smelling to high heaven , once my eyes started to water I abandoned ship and left the game. Later that day my wife told me a story of a crazy lady who stormed into the restroom , cornered the attendant and paid her $3 to rub an ointment on her lower back.

I played some $2-4 and $4-8 at Binions one night ,nothing special ,players were'nt that friendly , and the game was pretty tough for 4-8 so not a lot of fun so once I was a stuck a rack and figured I would probably have to grind it out for ever to get it back so that was the only time I played there.I was dissapointed in the game selection I was hoping to play a little low limit 7 card stud or omaha.

The highlight of my trip was the $330 noon tourney at the Wynn , it was exceptionally well run and the room is awesome after getting knocked out I played some $4-8 and it was probably the best table I sat at the entire trip with a good mix of gamblers and solid players.I would also like to add the cocktail waitress's were smokin' hot and the best I've seen anywhere.

Overall the poker content of the trip could only be described as average the games although beatable were too infested with whack jobs to make it enjoyable .The next trip I will probably stay on the strip and see if there is much difference , which is too bad because I really like the size and "feel" of the Golden Nugget.

The Wynn tournement will be a permanent fixture on my Las Vegas poker itinerary for sure.
