My buddy and I decided to play NL hold em at the Aria. I started playing at a 1-2 table and after about 30 minutes I was down $400, I wasn't catching anything and I was flat out playing to many hands. After an hour or so I notice Sammy Farha getting ready to start at a table ( Sammy has always been one of my favorite poker players). So I asked the floor guy what the min. buy in was and he said $800. So I got $823 together and I said "where can I sit" and the floor guy said "there's a seat open next to Sammy", I said "I'll take it". It was pretty Surreal for a while I was folding a lot of hands and I had a great time talking to Sammy, he was really cool to me and would show me his hand when I was out very interesting. I witnessed a lot of bad play, I can go more in depth later.
So the hand of the night for me, I was in mp with 7h 8h and it cost me $40 to see the flop with 3 players. Flop comes 8c 8s and 5 h, the canadien to my right with over 10k bets 150 and I call and other guy folds. Turn brings a Jd, canadien bets $220 and I smooth call river brings a 7d, canadien bets another 200 or so and the I go all-in and he calls I show him my boat and he mucks and win a pot of almost 2k( my biggest ever.) My hearts pumping 100 miles an hour and Sammy says nice hand. I go on to play a few more hours buying one pot and folding QQ on another. All and all it was an incredible experience and I hope to have another one next month!
