Sepember /October 07
On previous visits I was a beginner and the fish who donked his money off just for the experience.
Stayed for 7 nights at the Bellagio late September early October 07 with my significant other Wendy, we did all the tourist stuff then around midnight Wendy would hit the hotel room and I hit the Poker room mainly Bally’s and Harrah’s.
First night, Bally’s seated at a 1/2 nl bought in for $150. spent a while testing the water and strength of the other players apart from a couple of solid players most were there to have fun. First hand of note picked up the AA utg raised to $7, table went call, fold, fold, raise, call, re-raise to $25ish, gets back to me and I push for the rest of my stack about $125 and get 2 calls Q 5 off and a pair of 8,s. don’t remember the cards but my hand holds up and I have about $350 in front of me. Play abc stuff after that and cash out $400 up. How happy am I my first NL game in Vegas and am up $400.
Next night hit Bally’s again, cant get seated at first put my name on the list and sit down for a game of Let it Ride, $10 hands, pull my first two bets then hit an unlikely middle pin straight for an $80 gain when my name is called and I’m off.
Have about $180 in front of me,very first hand pick up the big slick and am in late position, villain to my right raises to £25, I flat call, the flop comes 8 high with 2 diamonds and villain pushes far to quickly for his last $35, I know his chips were going in no matter what came, give it a little thought and call, villain shows Ad Qs and I have him crushed, then comes runner runner diamonds to give him the flush, ouch, I learn he is from Scotland but has lived in the U S for a few years but speaks with an American accent !!! Scotsmen NEVER loose there accent so I now read him as a tosser. Even worse I don’t get a chance to get my chips back off him.
So am down to about £100 pick up a couple of small pots, then pick up K/Js in the cut off, raise to $11 next to act calls, just the two of us in the action. Villain is the father in law of the tosser but seems ok despite his daughters taste in men. Flop is J high rainbow I check villain bets I raise he re-raises and I push for the rest of my chips, he calls. He shows K/J h with 1 h on the flop, yes you guessed runner hearts give him the flush. I reload for $150 and play pretty steady building my stack then pick up J/9 h and call a small raise to see the flop which is Kh Qh ? don’t remember the action but there is a healthy pot when I river the 10h for a straight flush, put a value bet in for $40 which is called by a guy who has the nut flush. I take the pot and a $206 bonus.
The very next hand I lay down suited connecters which would have hit the same straight flush in spades.
I cash out about 5am about $600 to the good.
More to follow.
Hey! You switched currencies in the middle of a hand! I would call the floor on you in you pulled that at my table.
LMAO, I'm going to have to open my FOREX calculator to figure out the bets. Been a while since I traded any currencies.
Glad to see you blokes jumping accross the pond with all of those great poker rooms that I've heard about in Europe these days. Certainly glad to see your report, and hope you get back often!

Hence the reason I won't be traveling to England any time soon.
I really want to vacation there someday.

I recommend it highly. I got a chance to go to London in the summer of 2006 - my rooms were comped and my tour guide (my brother) had found lots of cheap things to do.
But the funniest was watching a British bloopers show before bed one night. I don't know if it was because we were tired or the fact that the BBC is adult enough to not pixelate the "naughty bits" but we were both "ROTFLMAO" for the full hour.
Good times!
