In my last trip report I blasted the Monte Carlo and some of the feed back I got was that as the economy still struggles I shouldn’t be surprised if I have similar experiences at other hotels. I’ve stayed at about 8 or 9 different places on the strip and my experience at NYNY was a very good one – easily one of the best dollar for dollar places to stay. So I decided to stay at NYNY again on this trip. I was a little worried after my WLP started reading some recent reviews about the place and was afraid that NYNY had started skimping on the upkeep.

Hooray! We got to the hotel, moved through the line at a reasonable pace, got to our room, and it was clean. The sheets were clean. No stains on the bedspread. View of the roller coaster. I think we were on the 10th floor right next to the first rise in the coaster and I never heard it. The last time I stayed there on a higher floor facing the same way and I could hear the coaster but for some reason couldn’t hear it this time.

My favorite place to play is the MGM poker room and I think the walk from our room in NYNY to the poker room is the same length as it was when I stayed at the MG M. Our check out was quick and done in our room. We went to the business center and printed our tickets in 5 minutes. Everything that didn’t work or went wrong at the Monte Carlo went smoothly and happily at NYNY.

But wait, I do have a complaint. I hate the resort fee. When we booked the room it was 8 or 9 dollars and when we got there it had gone up. I think they should honor the fee they quoted you when you booked the room. It’s a rip off and you just need to plan for it when you’re comparing rates. So, one nice thing about NYNY was that the only complaint I have was over 8 or 10 dollars. I guess that’s pretty good.

Until next time (June 25th – 29th), may your sheets be clean and your dice be light.

Happy to hear you won money on that dice thingy!

After this tongue-in-cheek report, somehow I suspect you are a much better poker player than you are giving yourself credit for.
