Spring break with the girlfriend
Left for Vegas from the El Paso airport at 2 pm and got there around 3pm. Grabbed a cab and got to the Vdara. Once settled in we walked to the Venetian to look around. I sat down at the 1/2 tables while she played some slots. Nothing crazy happened but I did dwindle my 150 buyin to 80 and the second to last hand I woke up to K J. I raise to 12 and get one caller. flop shows a J 2 4 and he checks. I continue to bet till the river when I decide to slow down and check. He puts me all in and with nothing on the board that would make me tank longer I call. My J holds up and im about even and soon cashed out when my g/f comes by. We grab dinner at the cheese cake factory and enjoy the random show that is nearby. As we return to the hotel she asks if I want to play some more poker and after a few "are you sure?" I head down to the Bellagio. Buy in at a 1/2 table for 100. after about an hour and a half and not a hand won I cash out with 45.
On monday we grabbed a quick breakfast and walk to the Mandalay bay. She shops around at the Urban Outfitters while I look around. Once finished we head to the Excalibur to put our name down for the 2-6. After 30 mins of waiting we play some roulette. We enjoyed ourselves and my numbers were hitting like crazy. We both got 40 dollars and she was down 23 and I was up 60. I handed her a 20 and had my name called for 2/6. She didn't feel like waiting so she sat down at some slots. Nothing crazy but I did have AK and hit Kings full of Aces. So that was cool, but after about an hour I cashed out with 20+ and we headed back to the hotel to get ready for dinner and the Love show. We took a taxi to the Mirage because she had heels and once there we headed to Kokomos for dinner. It was really nice, there are few place in El Paso with a good menu like theirs. I had the 28 dry aged rib eye and she had the filet mignon. I loved my steak, it put me on cloud nine. The Love show was amazing as well, I have always been a fan of the Beatles and this show just fit well. After we shopped around for a bit in the Caesars shops. I bought this nifty little blazer and shirt at H and M so that way my g/f isn't the only one looking night clubby.
We woke up a little late Tuesday and ordered breakfast from the hotel. But after we headed to this candy shop she wanted to visit, its near Paris and holy cow a stupid lollipop was 22 bucks! I don't mind a 50 dollar steak but that's just outrages. Anyways, we wanted to catch the fountains show but we had about 3 hours to kill. So she offered that I go play some poker while she shopped around for a bit. I obliged and headed for the Bellagio for some 4-8. Took about an hour to sit down but I had a good time with my second hand being AA. After the hour passed I cashed out with plus 30 and met with the g/f for a quick drink before the show. My favorite song "time to say good bye" came on and apparently the first show also has the national anthem. After enjoying the show we headed back to the hotel for a quick nap because today was clubbing day. I woke up first, got my stuff ready and because she had about 2 hours to get ready I head down to the Aria form some 1/3 action. I buy in with 200 and after winning small pot with 3's I wake up to pocket J's. I raise it to 20 and I have one caller. flop is 2 3 5, I bet out 50 and he calls. the river is a 4 and he goes all in. I insta call because I wasnt smart enough to figure out that any ace is a straight and that would have me running dead. And the beautiful river gives me a 6 which is a split pot because he had A5. He begins to get into a bitchy mood though and yeah I understand but no one lost really and I was happy to just hang onto my stack. after a few comments he asks if I thought I was good and I give him this big condescending look telling him absolutely. I understand a few quips but this guy pushed it and made me wanna pimp slap him. about an hour later I cash out with +50 and this made my night because my whole goal was to have a winning session at the Aria. Well as I walked back to the hotel I found my g/f looking fine as hell. But she was classy compared to the other girls clubbing, her skirt wasnt so tight and not as short but still made her legs look good although it did make me wanna put my jacket around her for the night. (end of brag) Well we went off to Pure at Caesars and I signed up at the Vdara concierge and Idk how or why I was put on the VIP but it was awesome because we went right in. Now, I've never been nightclubing before and I'm sure no where in my town do they have such a bad ass place. We had a good time somewhat dancing and drinking and after awhile we grabbed a taxi for some In-n-out.
Last day in and no poker, just woke up got some b-fast and bought the Aria Poker sweater. Although i did leave my wallet in the Taxi cab. after running around franticly for about 20 mins we waited where all the cabs go through to pick up those who come in. We spotted him and when I told him what happened he looked in the back seat and found it!!! I was so happy and also tired because that seriously stressed the hell outta me.
Overall good trip I was pleased with my poker play but Im ready to go back. Not sure when but Im gonna be depositing some money into my lock account and begin to blog about it.
Thanks for reading and good luck to all of you!
Sounds like a great trip. Lucky save on the wallet! Out of curiosity, did you have trouble switching back and forth between nl, sl, and limit?
Not really, mostly because the limit games are pretty easy to play at if your aiming to get in just an hour. You have either bellagio regs chasing or you have inexperienced players at excalibur getting eaten alive. But then again I had only about 2 and a half hours of non no limit play. I mainly went in betting aggressive if I thought I had it.
Lol, but if I were to be playing with a good 3+ hours I would have probably played a lot differently and focused on a more +ev session.
@tennis09
Sounds like she is a keeper!
Agreed. It is critical for a good wife/gf to make sure you get in a solid number of poker hours daily
Happy to see you enjoyed your trip, did you like Vdara?
Cheers,
TF
Nice trip report. I am always amused by the people who throw a tantrum about somebody sucking out after a poor play. What do are they hoping for, a table full of people who play perfect poker against them?
