This was my 2nd annual Superbowl weekend Vegas trip. Last year, it was a guys trip with a ton of drinking, gambling and god poker. This year, the wives decided to join us. Now thats not a big deal, since my wife and I make a couple trips a year to Vegas anyways. The issue is OTHERS WIVES who don't let the guys breath! Oh well, enough about that, mine is great in Vegas.
About 11 days before the trip, I came down with a pneumonia and was in bed on some pretty hard core meds to clear it up until the day before we left. I got clearance from the Dr. to go, however I was warned not to drink a lot or over do it if I didn't want a relapse. Great! What fun is Vegas if your not overdoing it?? ;)
We drove from Phoenix and with the new bridge, made it to Harrah's in about 4hours flat on an early Friday afternoon. Had a regular room reserved for $155 total for the 3 nights. Tried the $20 trick and it worked like a charm. Got upgraded to a newly remodled room with balcony away from the Carnival Court, flat screen TVs in both rooms and a Pillowtop mattress. It was a lot nicer than the brothers room who's trick didn't work....
That first night we just Hung out in the Dueling Piano bar in Harrah's with the rest of the group who met us there. Played a little in the pit with the father-in-law and drank some beers until 3am or so. With my recovering from being sick and still on meds, I payed for that the rest of the weekend. All day Sat and Sunday, I felt like crap, hardly ate, and just wanted to sit and not walk around too much. I did make it to the Aria but the list to play was about 30 deep and I didn't want to wait. Checked out the cosmopolitan, nice, not my style though. We're more of a Planet Hollywood kind.
I managed to play 2 short poker sessions, 1 at Harrahs and 1 at IP. Nothing much to write home about. Didn't even gambleas much as I would've liked because all the table minimums were so high with UFC in town too.

Oh well.... if it weren't for the fact that we were meeting about 10 others for the weekend, I probably would have cancelled the trip. Not a good Vegas vacation this time. Sorry for the boring trip report.

My wife told me the other day that she's ready to go back soon already since now we would have a good time.
Damn, I love that woman!

  1. Isn't the dueling piano bar in NY NY? Or was I really drunk?!

  2. I believe there are a few of them. I believe the most popular one is at Harrah's.
