The best day of poker in my life!
My wife and I went on our first trip to Las Vegas from Sunday 2/10/08 to Thursday 2/14/08. As soon as we arrived in town we headed from our hotel to Treasure Island. I was able to get into the 7:00 pm headhunter tournament. I played this tourney terribly and got knocked out after three levels. Even though this happened I would highly recommend this tourney to anyone who likes to play tournaments. This tourney has a buy-in of $150. You start with 6000 in chips and 30 min. blind levels. The tourney I entered had about 40 entrants with a bounty of $50 for each person you knocked out of the tourney.
After playing awful in this tournament the wife and I went drinking for the rest of the night.
Monday early afternoon we headed back to TI. I went to play more poker and my wife to play the slots. When I got to the cardroom all that was going on was the $65 tournament. After playing in the last tournament terribly I decided to sign up for the 1-3 no limit ring game. After about ten mins. the manager was able to get enuogh people to start a table. I played for almost four hours and quit after getting up $60 dollars. I considererd myself very lucky to come out with any money at all because this was the first time I played a no limit cash game. Everyone at the table were good players and played very well. The only fish at the table was probably me.
All in all I really enjoyed playing at TI and see why it is such a popular room on this website.
The dealers were great as was the management.
I couldn't get back to cardroom till wednesday morning when we went to Planet Hollywood. This is a beautiful room which I predict we will hear from alot more in the future. I bought in for the max of $200 and sat down at the only availible seat in 1-2 no limit ,seat one. I hate seat one because it is so hard to see everyone at the table. So I sat and watched everyone play for a couple of rounds before I played any hands. I couldn't believe what I was seeing people calling with two others in the pot all the way to the river with second pair or worse.Well I decided right there to play tight and let them bet into me when I got a hand Well that strategy worked great and I left that table two and a half hours later up $550. That is my greatest win ever in poker and I could have probably made more if the wife hadn't come in and seen how much I was up and insist it was time to go. So next time I am in vegas this will be my first stop.
Congrats on getting out with more than you came with, especially for a no-limit first timer! Sounds like you had a great time!

Fixed your post!

Solid advice here, get a feel for the texture of the game and sit where you can see people. I love seat 9. Most of them can't wait to see their cards, and then telegraph what they have.
The thing that I hate is when your opponent hates the flop, you make a pot sized bet and they call anyway. Frustrating.

There are plenty of weak games, and at times even weak games can get tough. Your best bet is to stand up and move to the next game.
