The man, The Fish, The Legend long
My trip started at Binions right after my flight landed I stayed at Binions On Sat. and wend. nights and at Treasure Island. I sat down at Bionions in a 1/2 NL game and played well for 3 hours ending up over $500. For those that have not visited Binions you should. It is a very nice room. They are hte best poker room downtown hands down. You can tell they have redone the whole room. The one thing I didnt like is the bathrooms. They cram to urinals side by side so close together it makes you uncomfortable. When I am taking a leak I dont want to stand as close as these things are to another guy plus add in the splash factor. Yes they are that close. I took a nap after my 3 hous and woke up went back down to bionions and donked off $400 of my $500 win when sets were chased down by flushes. Lost 200 more that night at Fitzgeralds when my flopped boat lost to a bigger boat ont he river. I played in the 10k event on sunday didnt cash but did cash in the 10AM tourney. Went down to check into TI got into the cash game and played well for about 5 hours then donked of my stack to the nut flush with my queen high flush. Went to bed. Went to Osheas to see I head back down to the AVP at Binions and was card dead and went out in 5th. Played the 8PM tourney to get booted when I flopped a str8 from the big blind I checked, bet raise and then I pushed called by botom pair with a flush draw who hit his flush. Back to the strip. Played aladdin won a couple hundred over a few hours. I DONT like Mirage where I played and picked up about $1100. Sat down at a 1/2 game and was up about 200 bucks from a big mouth drunk with a fat stack of 100's in his wallet and his butt buddies. They started a 2/5 table which I dont like but wanted a chance at this guys stack. Took my money over and got in. Needless to say he donked off about 2 grand over four hours. This is why I dont like Mirage. he bought back in with 20 bucks on the table and I am unsure what they buy in max is on the 2/5. I was in a hand and coulrnt give 100% to what was going on but the jist of it was that he rebought in lets say for 500 dollar max and had the 20 bucks on the table and they made him take it off. Now here is a table with AT LEAST 15 Grand on the felt lots of action and big pots going on. He compalins his buddy complains and the floor is there and makes him take it off. The whole table was backing the guy up. Well you know what happens he takes his drunk ass somewhere else to play. Killed the game. Action slowed down and I left. Played at Ip and I am still waiting on my drink from the waitress
Food Reviews from this strip. Osheas has expeanded the poker room and now have tables in the back by the cage before Burger King. I didnt get in but it looked like they were using old Roulette chips as poker chips. Played Binions my last day and grinded my $200 buy in to 40 bucks where I had a lot of limpers in front of me and pushed trying to steal the blinds. 5 callers lost to a 8 9 who hit 2 pair to my top pair. This is where my problem from Binions comes in. I tell ther dealer I will be back in a few minutes. Tell him I am going to the ATM (A lie I had about 2k in my pocket) I really ahd to go poop and didnt want to announce this to the table. I went to Golden Nugget as there bathrooms were much better. I come back after less than 10 minutes to see they have let a guy change seats into my seat. I question it and am told there are other seats open and I can have one of those they let him move because they didnt think I was coming back. I said no thanks and went back to the Golden Nugget. Got into a 1/2 game after about 10 minutes. second hand I look down in the big blind to see KK. $10 raise with 4 callers. Bump it to 30 and end up with 3 callers. First card I see is Kc on the flop turns into a ragbow with me hitting my set. I lead out with 20 get a caller and a raise to $50. I push my remaining 110 in and get called by AK. Nice double up for me. A few hands later on the button I look down and see 88 and call a $15 raise with 4 others in the hand. Flop my 8 for the set but the board is Ac 8C and 3C checks around to me and I bet $35 and get reraised by the inital raiser. I have him on a AK or AQ and I push. He thinks about 5 minutes and then calls. All this thinking assures me I am in front. He never showed but the board paired on the river and I pull in another 300. I leave about 30 minutes later to catch my flight up close to 500 bucks

So I'm confused. Sounds like you had a good trip, but I'm not sure what kind of bankroll you have. You keep talking about playing with thousands but then sit down at 1/2 tables? Then you complain about a room that gave you a one night profit of $1100? Just looking for some clarification I guess...
Sir I never talked about "playing with thousands" I said when I went to pinch a loaf off at Golden Nuggett I had about 2k in my pocket. Now as for my bankroll it is pretty much whatever I wanted it to be. Why do i play 1/2? it is because that is what I enjoy and seem to have the most success with. Why would I want to play 10/20 when I am in over my head? A fool and his money are soon parted. Just because we have money dosent mean I want to give it away in a game I am not one of the 5 best at the table. I feel in a 1/2 game I will always be one of the 5 best at the table if not in the top two or three. Bill gates plays in seattle card rooms guy is worth over 100 billion I believe and he plays 4/8 limit and 8/16 limit. Why? he enjoys it and feels like he can be compete with the other players at that level. Also just because I picked up 1100 bucks at Mirage does not mean I have to like it. I did until I feel the floor ran off two players that were forcing large action at the table because a guy bought in for $20 more than was allowed when to a person the entire table agreed it was ok. That one decision made me cash out and leave I wont go back for a few trips
I think yourchipsmystack makes a couple good points, and I am chiming in having a whole new perspective from meeting him with AVPers at Binions last week. The whole group of AVPers, although small, were a good group who I really enjoyed playing with...and I certainly think yourchips is right on in saying playing poker is something you should enjoy - no matter the limit.
I like winning as much as anyone, but play more for entertainment than to gamble. I've stayed at tables for 10-12 hours because it was such a good group of people, regardless of how I am doing. I have played enough poker that I now win more than I lose, but it is not like the amount of money is the driving factor. Everyones bankroll is different, and as LVM has said a few times, there are many lower limit players on this site.
I use to really like the Mirage poker room but have had more than one bad experience and have not been back in over 2 years. The point here being I feel yourchipsmystack makes a great point to remember, that being that you should enjoying the people and the poker room. I have been reading this site almost from its beginning, and besides the great feedback everyone gives, one can see the ebb and flow in LV poker rooms to make better informed decisions on where they might want to play.
Each person has their opinion, and hopefully it is friendly and respectful. Meeting yourchipsmystack in person was a pleasure and he certainly likes to have fun...he livened up our AVP table! I just hopes he continues more of the mychipsyourstack when we play next time (ha).
No need to get angry. I just assumed most people on this site play for a steady profit rather than soley entertainment. My post wasn't to criticize you, it was just for clarification. And the only reason I mentioned the word "thousands" is because I saw the phrase "10k event".
@Jooky
He meant 10k guaranteed I'm pretty sure.
That's what I assumed after rereading the report. It just happened to stick out at the time.
