Treasure Island Poker Tourney

Was in Vegas on business so my gambling time was limited. Decided to spend the $50 for the TI 10pm tourney. Was a few minutes late because dinner ran long but there were a few other "alternates" so they opened up another tourney table. Because of the large number of rebuys, the tourney had 47 entrants.

Interesting mixed group of people - a few women, a few cowboys and a number of novices.

Had a few great hands - busted out two players at once (JJ v 88 vs suited connectors - small stack). Also busted the same player out 3 times. The third time was AA vs 55. he didn't even stay for the flop. Was chip leader at first and 3rd breaks.

I was down to 11K at the final table but was able to climb out of that hole. Paid 5 people - the 6th player out was upset at me for "being too aggressive" with my JJ. The rest of the table laughed at her. Finished in 2nd (after a long time as chip leader).

Tourney took 4 hours - a little longer than I expected. Some really loose play and good chance for an OK player like myself to make some money (+350). Easy way for a novice to get some tourney experience.

Room is good and quiet - the waitresses came around with drinks regularly. Dealers only made a couple of mistakes that I noticed. Some players would take too long making decisions, angering more experienced players.

Would probably play again.

I absolutely love when this happens. Besides making money, the best perks of poker include tilting other players. Good work! That TI tourney is nice break from cash games I think. Easy competition, doesn't last too long, and then there's Megan of course, another perk to playing there.
