My wife and I stayed at the Venetian. I played most of my poker their (30+ hours). I played all cash games. I found the room amazing. Comfortable chairs, some really good dealers, nice atmosphere, not loud, but not to quiet either. Lots of room between the tables. The competition was about what I expected. I play 1-2 NL. Every table I sat at was pretty much the same. 1 or 2 people who had no idea what they were doing (or drunk). 3 to 6 decent players and 1 or 2 very solid players. I watched one guy peel off about $2500 over a 3 day period from his wallet. I was always looking for him when I entered the room! The action was excellent. Roast Beef carving station on Tues and Thurs evening was a nice touch. Comps were standard for a 1-2 table. I got $1 an hour. The poker rate was $179 ($259 on weekends) as long as you averaged 6+ hours per day. I would highly recommend the Venetian poker room. I will be back. I am also going to do a room review. I played one afternoon at Harrah's. The poker room is clean and basic. It was pretty large and secluded. There was only one table going and the room is totally separate from the casino. It was so quiet at times you could hear the card shuffler. The whole table was really loose. One woman kept chasing flushes (unfortunately she kept hitting them). I won a little bit, the cards never came my way. They have high hand jackpots. While I was there a guy won $600 for quad A's.
Did not get a player card while I was there so not sure of comps.

I walked to Belagio one morning to check it out. I knew they did not have 1-2, but wanted to see what was going on. Room is nice, but very cramped, tables are on top of each other. The Venetian room is about twice the size. I was watching a 2-5 NL game with about 15k on the table. 3 calls to a $50 preflop raise. Flop was Kc, 9c, 3s. Player A bets $100, 2 folds, 1 call by player B. Turn was a 7c, Player A bets $150, player B calls. River was a K. So three clubs and 2 kings on board. Player A bets $300, Player B raises to $600. Player A then reraises to put Player B all in for $485 more. Player B takes a good 5 minutes, but then calls. Total pot $2800. Player B shows a K for 3 kings, Player A mucked his hand. The table (and I) were stunned. No flush or boat. I laughed and left after that. There were like 7 or 8 games going at the Belagio at 10 in the morning. But it was during the 5 star WTP event.
