Venetian Deep Stack

Myself and two buddies decided to take advantage of $184 RT flight from Atlanta to play in the first Deep Stack tourney at the Venetian.
Watching the Super Bowl while playing Poker was an added advantage.
Played in the Noon $150 at the Venetian Super bowl Sunday. No hands of real note and end up shoving my short stack with two suited face cards, don't catch and am out after 3 hours of play.
Sit at an 1/2NLHE game and manage to double my buyin in short time.

Monday morning brings the first deep stack event in the series. All 3 of us buy into the event that ended up with 447 runners for a top payout of 40K.

I end up drawing a very tough table. I was easily the worse player at the table. One guy at the table was doing his best Phil Hellmuth impression. Any time some one would beat his hand he would berate the player about how bad you were and how you had no chance to win the tournament.
During the first level I called a small raise with J10 OS and end up with a straight on the river. For the next 5 minutes I endure a verbal barrage about how bad a player I am. Finally I tell the guy " isn't that what you want, my dead money in the prize pool" that seemed to shut him up for a while. I really heard it from him when I took him out with my JJ to his 44. He told me " you have no chance to win the tournament and you take me out", needless to say I now had a better chance than him. Unfortunately for me in the hand I took him out on, I exposed my hand before all action was completed and had to sit out for a ten hand penalty.
I managed to triple up when I open shoved with J10 Spades, got called by QQ and KK who were both all in and managed a J on the flop and an ten on the river. The big chip stack claimed to have folded JJ preflop and would have taken all of us out.
I ended up getting knocked out right before the dinner break after 7 1/2 hours of play. Finished around 100th.

A very good learning experience for me and wish I would have drawn a softer table. My buddy got a much easier table, he said five of the players at his table seemed to not know what they were doing whatsoever.

The Venetian has a first class room. The tournament was well run. Thanks go out to Dan and Anthony.
I definitely recommend playing one of the Deep Stack tournaments if you have the chance.

I also had the pleasure of meeting and playing with LVM at Harrah's. Sat right next to him. Michael is really a very classy guy. He was very welcoming and friendly. I manage to pad his take on that day, when I pushed the rest of my stack with a flush draw. It was an good table, lots of laughs. I lost $75 of my buy in on the first hand at the table. Welcome to the table, sir.

Bad poker trip for me as I played in 4 tournaments at Venetian for a total of $730 and did not cash in any of them. Plus around $400 more in cash games.
Hopefully better luck and better play next time.
