WSOP trip
Flew in on Sun. May 30. Checked in at Harrahs with no troubles. Rooms are OK, nothing to jump up and down about. Definitely trying the Venetian poker room rates next time.
Head over to Venetian poker room (best in vegas), head over the bridge and get that first smell of the V perfumed air and I know I'm home. Played some cash, and registered for the next day DSE.
Not much to talk about hand wise at DSE, ran pretty rotten, lasted into the evening but out of money. Great run tourneys. Love the fact u can redeem entrance ticket for t shirt or hat etc. that u can't just purchase anywhere.
Tuesday head downtown for first time. Played a bit at Binions. Nice old room. Walked across the street and played at the Nugget. These games are deep as there is no limit on buy-ins. Lots of 1k + stacks. I buy in for 300 and build it up to 650 or so. Grumpy older player with shades pushing around table and calling large bets with thin holdings. I raise preflop with 66 he calls and see a flop of 623 rainbow. Bingo right? I decide to lead out and villain puts me allin. INSTA-CALL! He tables 77 and you guessed it...7 on the river. Disgusting.
I decide to leave and head back up to strip to get over the beat.
Wednesday I head over to Rio as I have preregistered for my first WSOP event (#8 $1500NL). Table played pretty tight all day. Had to lay down Kings in first orbit to a probable flush. Managed to stay in the thick of things while not winning very many hands at all. Las couple of levels I run terrible and end up blinding down quite a bit and end up shoving on the button after every one folded with A10 hearts and get looked up by BB with AQ. Game over. Cant complain though, I played every hand I was able to and just needed a hand or two at the most to get to the money. Saw lots of Pros walking around and watched Eli, Huck, Tony G playing over in Amazon room.
Thusday head over to Bellagio and get the money in twice! with set over set only to have opponent hit quads twice! in one session! Table can't believe it. I still like the Bellagio though. Its worth looking into no matter what a lot of people write here.
Decide to keep on exploring and take the tram to Aria. I get there at 1pm and decide to play their tourney. I actually run pretty good and get down to 12 or so left. Get it all in with a short stack (1/3 my stack) He has JJ Im holding AKhearts. I dont mind the odd race . Flop comes AK3 spades. Opponent has Jack spades. Of course spade comes on turn. I dont mind losing a race, but I hate winning one only to get four flushed. A few hands later I raise with JJ and get called. Flop KJ3 rainbow. I lead out and villain puts ME allin. I snap call, he says I thought I could bluff u off your hand and tables A10. Anyone care to guess the turn card? Queen..
I decide to forget poker for a while and play some blackjack to drown sorrows. I must say the cocktail waitresses at Aria are quite something.
Friday head to Hard rock and see crosby stills and Nash. Great Show. Decide to play some more cash at V before morning flight. I ran terrible, but had a great time overall and can't wait to get back of course. I also played a bit at Mirage, Harrahs.
Geez- your report gave me the cold sweats, what a ton of awful beats. You should be good to go for the next 10 times you play considering that run of bad luck. My son and I are going to Vegas over Labor Day, we had to postpone our July trip since he's so wrapped up in this awful oil spill. Talking about bad beats, I think BP just took the worst one of all time. Hope we run better than BP when we get there.
Two quad hits against you in ONE SESSION???????? I am never gonna whine about bad beats ever again!!! (BTW-THAT'S INSANE) Did I mention I'm never gonna whine about....oh, nevermind
Excellent trip report - how many were in the #8 WSOP event?
