this is being posted late due to family issues (death) that arose that made my trip cut short, as I had to fly home only 3 days after getting to Vegas. I usually go out to the wsop & play a couple events, as well as, cash games then some golf each year since 2003 for about 10 days.

Started the trip by flying in on Saturday June 21st on Allegiant from CA. great price but just one flight in & out of the CA location doesnt give much choice...anyway flight was short & got in around 12p, got my car & headed over to play golf with a friend. It was 112 degrees outside HOT! We had a great time catching up during the round. I used rental clubs had 4 birdies and an eagle but still shot 73 (1 over), my friend shot 6 under 66...btw both of us are scratch golfers hence the good scores. Went out to dinner and strip club later so no poker on SAT.

Went on Sunday to play the Caesars deep stack. Paid my $540 and had enough time to play some cash first. Sat in on a 2\5 nl game...got quad 4's during the game which won me a huge hand against the guys AA (I flopped a 4 then turned quads), he goes all in & I call on turn. Make $980 which covers my entry...woohoo. Now tourney action...I played tight & aggressive throughout, late in tourney I was low to blinds in chips, went AI pre flop with 88 against 2 others all ins & 88 held up against their AQ and AK. Take that money to another table where I build up stack to just about average. Bust out came; blinds were like 3k\6k with an ante, I got AA UTG+2 raise to 20k, guy next to me reraises to 40k and when it gets back to me I go all in since I only had 65k to start the hand, guy had me covered by I think 1k in chips. He flips over QQ and hits a Q on the flop to knock me out at 90 people left of 440 that started. I am bummed out, so I go home.

Monday- go back for the $200 deep at Caesars, 5 40 minute levels in, villains make a couple a dumb moves against me, I make good calls they spike their outs on the river, I am out.

I decide to go over to RIO to check out WSOP action and cash games. I put my name on list for 10\25 nl, 25\25nl and the 25\50nl. I see Clonie G sitting at a 25\50nl and hope to get on her table (she was looking real good). About 1 hour later I get called to a 25\50 nl game, I buy in for 3,000 which was about average of what table had. no memorable hands for 1 st hour then a guy comes to sit at table and buys in for 40K. He then proceeds to raise every pot that gets to him when someone open raises and like 2-3 callers for enough money to effectively put them all in which gets them to fold about 5 orbits of this & frustration by table sets in. Finally with me on the button, someone raises to $150 2 callers, then the 40k villain calls as well & I look down at 33 on the button & decide to call as too. Flop comes 632, all check to villain who then bets out $650, I raise my trip 3's to total of $1400 every one folds to villain who asks me what money I have left...I tell him & he says to dealer I put him all in...gets back to me & I say call...he turns over 88 lol except that an 8 on the river gives him better set & I lose $3000...I get up, say 'nice hand' then go home.

Tuesday- go golf with my friend- both of us have another good day...I shoot 1 under and he shoots 3 under, I buy lunch since he beat me again. I get call during golf that my BIL died * I have to fly home next day. I decide to get 1 last night of poker in & head back to the RIO. I get into a 25\50NL game again & buy in for 3k. about 1 hour into game the guy from day before shows up & gets into the game for 32k. he starts his re raise stealing again for about 3 orbits building his stack easily along the way. BIG HAND- I am small blind, 32k villain is the BB...a guy raises UTG+2 t $150 2 people call, I look down at 910os call & hope that BB villain just checks, he does & we see a flop of 999, QUADS for me on the flop. I check, the villain opens for $700 all others fold around to me, I give him a couple looks then say "I call". Turn card comes a J, I bet out $1100 the villain asks how much I have behind, I tell him & says he will put me all in. I immediately call and he shows AJ for a turned full house, I show him the quads and I get back the 3k payoff that I lost to his suckout the night before...woohoo

basically came out even for poker $$ and played a couple of solid rounds of golf even with rental clubs lol

  1. Great report and sorry to hear about your BIL :disappointed:

Amazing time on the course, that's awesome! And some really deep play at the cash tables, way above my pockets and skill...unreal you lost the way you did with turned set over set only to get it back the next nite!

  2. $3K average buy in for a 25/50NL game? Thats not even 100BB's. Seems kind of odd. Would have thought at least $5k average with a lot of much bigger stacks at a game like that.

  3. I bought in for the 3k because the rest of the table had about the same, I had more with me but decided to come in with what table was playing as average.

Your right though, most of the time when I play this game there is usually about an average of 8-10k per person.

I am going back on Labor Day weekend & will play the 10\20nl at Bellagio

  4. high stakes poker and scratch golf...please adopt me!!!

Great report, GL on the Labor day trip

  5. That trip 3s hand is brutal. I hope the other players at the table thanked you for building up his chip stack before you left.
