I arrived at WYNN at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 15th. I was seated at 4-8 Hold'em by 10:34. I had my Red Card by 10:37.

Six hours of play . . . ten 36 minute rounds. Here we go:

Round 1: One good hand. AQo took down $45 w/ a pr of Qs--Rnd 2: Nothing playable except blinds--Rnd 3: Eight playable including AK and AJ suited. Took down $60 with AJ, but AK lost $30 with top two pair to straight--Rnd 4: QQ and K-10o took down over $100--Rnd 5: Six playable. Only winner was a bluff with a busted 5-7 straight draw, lost almost $100 total--Rnd 6: Nothing playable--Rnd 7: One decent hand, 89d, with the 567 flop took down almost $100 with plenty of callers--Rnd 8: Two hands, AK and AQo resulted in $60 profit--Rnds 9&10: Nothing playable except for blinds. End result, after plenty of Heinekens, Spicy Bloody Marys and probably $30 in tips, was still plus $105.

Went and played $25 BJ (the minimum) for 30 minutes and lost $25. It was now 5:15 a.m. Sunday morning. I walked over to Registration, threw down a twenty and asked for early check-in. All sold out, but will check. Twenty minutes later I am in room 5148 overlooking the southern pool, the entire golf course, and the horizon from the Stardust to UNLV. (For more on the room, see my trip report.) Went down to the pool (card check), and slept from 8-noon. Very hot, so back to the room and slept until 2:00 p.m. Checked out the rest of the casino (very nice), dropping some twentys in various VP machines. Back to the Poker room, Played 1-2 No limit for 90 minutes. Left because nothing playable was coming my way, although I still finished up $37 when a big blind special of K3 flopped two 3s for a $65 victory against top pair with no kicker.

Checked out my poker hour totals with Carmen. What's this?? I only have 5 minutes on my card. Okay, she called over the Manager, Dave. He asked how much I had played. 8.5 so far. He types for a moment, then asks me to come back to his office. He told me the system is actually getting better every day and then hands me a $20 comp for my troubles. Great, I thank him and head back up to the room for a short break. Back to the Casino, I play some roulette, Craps and BJ for about two hours with most of my $50 profit coming from the number 4 repeating at Roulette. BTW, it's now Sunday at 7:00 p.m. and minimums are 15 everywhere with a few $10 tables thrown in.

Started playing VP. Headed for the High limit area to play some $5 VP, but no High Limit for $5 players here. Ten dollar minimums. It was also the first place I had ever seen $20 VP. Tried two hands, single coin: Lost one and hit 2 QQS on the other. Out to the main casino where I proceed to lose $120 at VP in 90 minutes.

Back to 4-8 Hold'em for four more hours. Couldn't hit much, dropped about $75. Off to bed from 2-7:00 a.m.. Went back to the pool (card check) from 8-11:30, then back to the room for a shower before using my $20 comp in the VIP line to sample their buffet. Had a late checkout of 2:00 p.m. which I completed over the TV. Finally departed the room at 2:30.

All in all it was a pretty good deal. Regular room was $259 and I paid $129. I went to scout out the deal for use during July, when my wife and I will be staying on the same deal for two of our nine nights. The players were above average, but not as tight as Bellagio's. Lots of tourists drifted in and out, apparently willing to drop a hundred just to say they played at WYNN. I was able to get a 4-8 table, immediately, at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday evening . . . by midnight there was open seating. Most of there tables are 4-8 and 1-2 NL.

It's immediately inside the parking garage (which was never full). It's non-smoking. They serve food at the tables. It is a small hike to the restroom - all poker rooms would be smart to have their own, or at least provide one close, like the Palms. The Lists are posted around the casino, and in your room on channel 29, from where you can call down and reserve a seat. No bad beat or high hand jackpots or tournaments yet. No mistakes by the dealers. Very professional staff and lots of security (purple outfits) everywhere.
