Your tournaments needs a chip to cost adjustment. $100 us for 25,000 tournament chips for entries, rebuys, or add on's, always makes the players feel cheated. It should be 1 for 1.
$100 gets you 100,000. Now the players have something to work with..
Your response is that the tournament would take too long . Incorrect.... all in, means the same thing whether you have 25,000 chips or 100,000 chips..
The tournaments might last a few minutes longer, but surprisingly they usually last very close to the same time either way. (some clubs already are doing this)
This would boost the amount of players entering your tournaments, and give the amateurs a fairer chance against the professionals. It would allow them to make a mistake, get felted, and still worked their way back into the finals of the tournament with a re-buy. When a player has to re-buy for 1/3 or 1/2 of the original chips, there really is no chance to be competitive after they've been felted.
And even worse if it's close to halftime, the antie's are so high, they can't buy enough chips to cover more than two or three big blinds, so they leave rather than rebuying and doing add on's at halftime. Thus This costs the tournament and prize pool revenue.
Nobody can rebuy or ad on after halftime anyway, so why not make it more fun for everybody, and entice more players to come to compete?
Multi day tournaments interfere with regular club weekly tournaments. Why not pick a tournament for a Saturday or Sunday and always have that tournament at the same time. The club players will know they can schedule to go play on that day at that time every week. Constantly interrupting the tournament schedule leaves players going to Poker Atlas looking for alternative places and tournaments.
Some players are not interested in spending 300-500 to play a tournament. They are just looking to have a good time and have some competition. Contrary to some beliefs, poker players can have fun and be competitive without having a gambling addiction!
