888 Holdings became the first online gaming company to obtain a US license in March 2013. The company also has been partnering with licensed online gaming operators to establish a foothold in the legal U.S. poker market. 888 Holdings' 888poker has its own player pool, branding and promotions.

888 Holdings owns 888Poker, one of the largest online poker sites in the world (currently fifth in overall traffic) after tripling peak players on international sites from 2010 to 2012. Based in Gibraltar, 888 has recently made a foothold in the U.S. market with 888Poker in New Jersey and soon, the same site in other markets.

Interactive Gaming Partners

As of January 12, 2015, 888poker and WSOP announced a partnership involving sharing limited player liquidity. Micro and low-limit cash games and select tournaments are included in the shared liquidity. 888Poker is also affiliated with Caesars Atlantic City.

Software

888 Poker uses its own software as part of the All American Poker Network. It's gone through many iterations and is quite polished. Players can play multiple tables simultaneously and can resize tables, and can choose four-color decks or sound effects.

Game Variety

888poker offers limit hold'em with spreads from $0.50/1 to $2/4 and no-limit hold'em from $0.01/$0.02 to $5/$10. It also offers Omaha and Stud.

Sit-n-gos range from $1 to $100 buy-in, and tournaments go up to the big $200 buy-in, $10,000 guaranteed Sunday event.

Traffic

Traffic has been OK thus far, with competing sites Borgata and PartyPoker receiving the lions share of the attention. Increased traffic numbers are expected with the announcement of shared liquidity between 888poker & WSOP.

Support

888Poker gives plenty of options for player support, including Web form and support e-mail address. Players can deposit via online bank transfer, Visa or Mastercard. For withdrawals, players have ACH or e-checks, but can also pick up their money at Caesars Atlantic City, also known as the Caesars cage.

Hits/Misses

888poker's traffic has lagged behind its rivals, but this early on, it's still anybody's game. There are plenty of players on 888 and it's easy to find the game or tournament you like.

Bottom Line

888's software is stellar, and it's not apt to hide information in favor of icon-based interfaces like Borgata and Party. All the information is there about games, limits and so on, so it's easy to make choices. 888 is a great place to play online poker.
