Casino at the Empire

I played 1/2, because they had availability immediately, was down a bit after just a few hands, and then went on a sun run for an hour, so that probably colours this review.
The rake was £10 + £1.5 bonus drop, which seemed excessive, though tipping was less required than in America.
That said, I was left confounded after successfully calling with top pair and discovering the opponent had 3bet me and called a 4bet with 65s. I eventually realised they have a promotion where your pay no rake if you win with 65s.
Soon after, I opened 65s UTG, and everyone folded. I thought it was a waste, because the rake on the pot was so low, but then discovered I don't pay rake on any pot until someone else wins with 65s. I then won at least 6 more decent pots in a short amount of time, saving me a ton in rake. I made a short session of it, regretfully surrendering my active rake-free pass, in order to get a good night's sleep.
The players were enough of a mix, including some people who seemed very new to the game, and there were lots of drinks being consumed.
