Upper Management is slowly running the poker room into the ground.
They recently raised their session fee which is paid every 30 minutes (dealer change) whether you play or not from $7 every 30 minutes to $9 every 30 minutes across all games. So $18/hour.
They cut comps for poker players to essentially nothing. So if you were a reg that played a decent amount of hours each month. You would get $100 monthly in food comps, now that's gone.
The casino bus that goes from Toronto to Fallsview use to be $10, now it's $50 because the company doesn't subsidize the bus company. Why would any pay $50 to gamble at a casino unless you are going to a show or you are a tourist for the day. Baffling the management team doesn't understand this. The buses are now dead with practically no customers.
The poker room is dead aside from Friday and Saturday after 6pm and maybe Wednesday after 6pm which is their $300 weekly tournament. Even those days are not that busy. Any other time it's dead and all local regulars. They have a hard time getting a 2/5 game running unless it's Wednesday after 6pm and Friday and Saturday after 6pm and it's only one table.
The only saving grace left is they still have the best set of core dealers in Ontario. They have a few bad poker dealers but the majority are pretty good.
Upper Management needs to realize that they aren't the Poker Playground in Quebec. Nothing special about your room aside from some good dealers.
