tournaments are "ok".
what's "the bad":
- start with few chips
- never any more than 5/6 tables, casino wont sacrifice cash table for tourney (waiting list).
- never a 1st place more than $3k.
- for a city of 275k people, that's a terrible turnout, they aren't promoting it at all.
whats "the good":
- RPT isn't too far away in the US.
- free pop n coffee in poker room.
If you're playing in Regina, I'd suggest RPT.
You can enjoy a weekend of poker, with multiple tournaments throughout. Starting stack is a minimum of 15k chips. Ran better than any tournament I've been to in Canada.
Dedicated website (as well as Facebook page) with calendar and locations. Can plan ahead!
I was just at the tourney in deadwood, South Dakota, main prize pool was $500k+ ($135k - 1st place), second chance tourney was $17,500 purse.
Roughrider Poker Tour.
It's worth the travel (especially for bigger events).
