I'd give this a half chip rating if I could. I can't blame the Casino for the lack of preparation and planning on the WPT.
Drove 3 hours south to play in Sunday's Seniors Championship only to find out the Noon start was now 2:00, AND was opened to all ages, and the field was capped due to dealer shortage. The WPT folks didn't inform the front desk about the problems, so whoever answered calls didn't have any answers and the poker room wasn't taking calls! Went home and played at Riverwind.
The WPT organization really fell short with this event. They had a huge opportunity to really build their player base for years to come, and they failed in a big way. Players were starving to play and the WPT can't incentivize dealers to work? They could have doubled dealers pay and still made a profit. On the first major poker event in this area in 18 months, they should made every effort to provide a great experience for everyone. It seems like the WPT was there to collect a paycheck. I'm thinking the dealers may have known something about the WPT that the rest of us don't know. If I knew they treated dealers like crap, I wouldn't deal for them either! Did a dealer really just leave a table and walk out?? Are you kidding me?? Yikes!
This will be the last time I go to a WPT event, I'll stick to the WSOP events and local tournaments from now on.
