The truth:
The Cal-Neva in general is not a fancy place, but they don't pretend to be. The poker room is no exception. Racetrack tables, the chips and cards have some age on them, chairs weren't the best but were comfortable. No place to charge phones, but when this place was last renovated, nobody had a cell phone.
The Good:
I played the $10 tourney on a Tuesday, 10 players 6 rebuys, 7 add-ons. The dealer, Bill, was funny and all the players seemed to know each other aside from me and one other guy. Laughter abounded, it was a truly fun time.
The Not so Good:
Tourney paid 2 spots(20% of field) and the winner took home $80, 2nd $34. Prize pool after removing admin fees (per pokeratlas) should have been $161(assuming each buy in/add on/etc only added $7 to the pool). So I'm not sure I understand their payout structure, or how to account for the remaining $47 of prize pool, but all in all for a $10 that's really a $25 with the opportunity for a rebuy, which I didn't use.
Overall:
Fun room, fun people, free drinks, there was food but I didn't venture over. TV's on one wall were nice. The experience was "good enough" overall.
