I saw that there was a 10K gtd tournament with registration until 9:45 pm. I showed up about 35 mins after trnmnt started. But it literally took 20 minutes just to register. You have to pay the $25 immediately (walk-in fee), then it's $240. You are pushed to buy the add-on, and there's not much say about. While I was waiting at the front counter, a dealer was calling for a floor. It fell on deaf ears. I finally was able to sit into the only table that was for the tournament. Yes, one table for 10k guarantee...
A second table did open up about 40 minutes later. Without any proper protocols of a standard tournament, a guy whom I assume was the floor/tournament overseer. Ask a well-known local player what seat he wanted at the other table, then took others from our table to the other table. One guy didn't want to play with his buddy, so they allowed him to play on my table and move another guy. This was a total clown show and just got worse. A dealer turned and burned but was bullied by a player to stop calling the floor and just make the card stay.
Dealers were gawd awful. Each was worse than the last. Switching deck hands to pull in chips, not following the action. Had issues reading hands and literally would not be able to pass any audition at any place. In 4 consecutive hands, a dealer on my table flipped up at least one card. Rather than keeping them face up as the burn, he just turned over after he replaced them.
The girls (bartender and waitresses) were all very beautiful and very friendly. There were several items from the kitchen that looked very good and well portions.
With that being said, this place had a crazy shady feel. I wouldn't be surprised if the shill players to fill the tournament were being fed chips as I could visibly see larger stacks but couldn't imagine the money needed to get these stacks. Luckily I was on the relaxed table as the other table had 4 players that literally looked like they just were released from jail and you could easily tell the dealers and other players were letting them run the table. There were 2 armed security, but it in no way made me feel safe. The neighborhood is very dark, and I can't see coming back no matter how much the overlay could be. I read the 30+ reviews, and they are definitely trying to pad them. You see three bad, then five nearly the same all 5 stars.
Let's be honest here...
Reviews can't possibly be real, and this place is a total black eye to the poker community.
It was extremely unprofessional, and I could very seriously see truly a bad happening here and ruining it for all of the good rooms in the area that strive for customer service and true poker with professional dealers and staff. For your own safety, I just can't and won't recommend this place.
It feels like a front for turning money.
If ownership and management read this and you are truly interested in a genuine poker room, then I I hope you take this constructively and try to fix this. If not, then you can't possibly compete with any other rooms in the area.
This was my honest opinion and has no alterior motivation. I will not return!
