I moved here to Boston from Florida a year ago to be closer to my son.
I've played 1000 hours of live poker yearly for the last 20 years. My hourly at Hard Rock was $33 dollars last year. It's been above $30hr for the last ten years at $1/2 and 1/3. My hourly in this room is $15 after 500 hours of play. I've actually been running really well, too.
This room sucks. I myself wasn't aware just how much my hourly would decrease as a result of the extremely high rake. I thought it would be between, $5-$7. I was dead wrong.
I thought Bostonians to be scrappy, and known for taking no @#$%. I don't know what has happened to you people, but this casino has been giving it to you with no lube.
Many of the dealers are low class. They would be fine in a small card room, but at a casino, no way. They "hustle" for the tips, too, which is a huge turn off. Honestly, it feels like I'm being solicited. They rush your action, and have zero regard for your investment. They just want to make as much money as possible. Most of the dealers aren't even US citizens, and are taking jobs from local citizens.
We are the show guys, not the dealers. Stick up for yourselves!
On a side note, poker atlas keeps deleting people's reviews. I'm giving an honest review. Watch your step poker atlas, or I'll call my lawyer. Don't even think of deleting this review.
They deleted a player's review who said a staff member showed racial bias against him. Poker atlas is going to end up with a lawsuit.
I'm not telling you where to play, but you really need to assess the situation, and get real with yourselves. You think the rake is insignificant because you don't track your sessions, but even the 2/5 games have dried up because of the high rake. Get a clue.
