Unfortunately poker does not generate as much DIRECT profit to the casino as many other gambling options, especially on a per square foot basis. As a result, many casinos over the years have minimized or even eliminated poker as part of their offerings.
Some casinos DO recognize the synergistic relationship between offering poker and the effect it has on driving more handle to the casino's other more lucrative gambling options. The Wynn has no geographically close competition and it's gaming area is very packed with slots, table games, etc. As a result, it's pretty obvious that data analytics team that helps make decisions has gone the route of deemphasizing poker because they feel that the saved square footage can be used more profitably. I respect their business decision, but I strongly disagree with it as I don't believe their modeling looks at the big picture accurately. I personally will show my disappointment with this by making sure me and my friends ( who play slots + table games) go to other casinos that offer poker.
