The Lodge is an action packed poker room. Multiple games were going on in the afternoon and evening. I played in two tournaments the first day I arrived. The second day I played from 7-11am when there is no hourly rate. That evening I played on the live stream. That was very exciting for me and the main reason I went there. I watch the live streams Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights when I can. The tables are large and have cup holders in front of each player. This is one of the best lighted rooms I have played in. I wear very dark glasses and I could see just fine. The room temperature was perfect. Usually I am freezing in poker rooms. I was very comfortable in this room. When the A/C goes on it is a bit loud though. While it is running you don’t hear it, only as it turns on it makes noise. The chairs are very comfortable. They offer just about any games you would want to play. When I arrived at 7am on my second day there was only one table, the wait wasn’t that long to get a seat. I could see there were some very good players who love action. The dealers were very competent and friendly. The rest of the staff was very helpful and nice too. When I left the live stream I asked the security officer to watch me as I walked to my car. He didn’t just watch me, he walked me to my car and stood by my car until I got in and left. That was excellent. I don’t fully understand all the rules. I am sure they are there to comply with Texas laws. So things will be a bit different if you are use to playing in casino card rooms. All will be explained to you when you arrive or at the tables. I was surprised to see dealers deal to empty seats in cash games. I asked why and was told since players are paying for the hour cards are dealt to them seated or not. The free roll wasn’t really free, but if you don’t do any add ons it is a very inexpensive tournament. If you do add on you could spend a couple of hundred. First place was over 5k. Great tournament. I do think they should allow the dealer add on without having to pay a full $100 add on. I would have gladly paid my money to go to the dealers, but I didn’t really need more chips. The room is huge with plenty of tables. I can see why players like playing there. Management has tried to make the room as comfortable as possible with a waiting room with plush seating, a couple of chess tables, vending machines and clean bathrooms. Pictures of players who have won tournaments adorn the walls of the tournament area. There are also posters of Pros, Vloggers and Local Regulars. These posters on the walls of both the front room and the back room. This lets players know they are important to The Lodge. I had a blast both days. If’s you are in the Austin/Round Rock area of Texas and love poker I think you will love The Lodge, I highly recommend playing there.
