First, the good: the 1-2 game had a nice mix of regs, maniacs, and one or two good players, and the seating system is super easy to understand for a newcomer and helps to keep the tables balanced (the dealer has a number of seat cards with their table number on it that they have a floorperson bring to the desk, tables with multiple cards get new players first, and you bring the card to the table to get your seat, so there's no confusion about where to go). Nice jackpot promotion for high hand (quads or better, both cards must play, pot must be $20, and you get paid out instantly in chips once the floor comes to verify). Free soda and coffee, just remember to tip the waitress. Pretty solid food selections too (no eating at the table, but I enjoyed a good grilled chicken quesadilla while taking a quick break, and the regulars at the table said the rest of the menu -- available via QR code at every table! -- is similarly good). Dealer quality varied from "acceptable" to "really good," and there were no egregious errors from anyone, and everyone was friendly and personable.
The only downside? The floor staff tends to congregate at the desk, and it's sometimes hard to get them to the table, even for a jackpot or a floor call. While it's fun for the table to have someone win a jackpot, it's not fun to wait for 5 minutes for the floor to come over, nod their head that yes, it IS quads with both cards playing and the pot IS over $20 so they can go to the cage to get chips. Similarly, calls for open seat cards, rack fills (the racks are built-in, not carried, so dealers have to count them down every time they change), etc all took longer than they should. Seriously, there's a reason it's called being a "floor"person, and not a "desk"person, the floor should be walking around in a bigger room like this one.
