The casino is the ghetto est saddest place I've ever been to. Instead of remodeling they just add walls and block off a section of the sports books. The chairs are old and the place smells of cigarette smoke.
The good thing is the tournament has a low entry fee. Most of the players there are from the area and are more recreational players. They all know each other and taunt each other a lot. The tournament usually has 2-3 tables on a Saturday night. The chop starts at 10 players but we couldn't get the chip leader to budge. I ended up busting at 6th place.
Some of the locals there play really loose with multiple rebuys. If you can grind it out, the pot gets pretty big at the end of the night.
This was my second attempt at playing a poker tournament and it is great for beginners. There is no big blind ante.
Some mistakes I've seen was the big blind only betting the small blind and a missed chop pot.
