Closing Early December

This poker room has been dying a slow death and they are finally shutting it down for good in December. I personally like the electronic tables but most people do not. The main problem here is they’ve made no effort to attract players and instead actively repelled them. I’ve only lived in Memphis for a couple of years but apparently they had tournaments with 60 plus players for while. Now you would show up to a tournament and hope there would be at least ten people or so to even hold it. Cash games were hardly ever running. No poker room can survive if players don’t know for sure if a game will even be going when they get there. It became a vicious circle where people stopped showing up because they were fearful there wouldn’t be players. Management of this poker room was terrible. They would advertise guarantees that they were never meeting because there weren’t enough players. Then people who hadn’t been there got angry for wasting their time and the atmosphere suffered. It’s a shame because this is a really nice casino and I enjoyed going with family members because I could play a poker tournament but won’t bother going there anymore. Tunica is far and the tournament entries are expensive. Just sad to see but it was inevitable this was going to shutdown sooner rather than later. Maybe the legislation will pass that will allow a real poker room rather than electronic but I have no faith they have the slightest clue how to manage one successfully.
