The buy in at the cheapest table was 4k-30k Hong Kong Dollars. But the ATMs at the casino only dispense a maximum of 2000 Hong Kong Dollars per transaction if you're using a US bank card. Don't believe the casino staff when they tell you that there's a "higher limit” atm somewhere, there's not. Unless you want to pay atm fees on a dozen transactions, make sure you bring cash with you.
At 5pm on a Friday, we were quickly seated at a new table, and there were about 20 tables of the 50-100 game running. You can ask for a table change, but they are only given to high ranking club members. If you are a one time guest, you stay at your table forever.
None of this was as bad as the board though. By about 7pm the board had over 50 names on it for our game. But as players started being eliminated, the seats just stayed empty. We talked to the local players and they told us what was happening. The management deliberately doesn't fill seats from the board at the low limit tables on Friday and Saturday nights. They want our game to break so they can switch the table to a higher limit game with a higher rake and they want people on the board to get frustrated and agree to play a higher limit. And they were getting frustrated. They are literally standing in the rail watching our @#$% 5-handed game for the rest of the night. We basically got 2 hours of a full game and then once it’s past 7pm, the game just gets worse and worse as players are eliminated but never refilled. What a terrible way to treat your players. Will never be back, though I'm not sure there's anything better to be had in Macao.
Service was fine and drinks are free.
