Flew into Las Vegas on Tuesday the 16th, and returned home on Sunday the 21st. I live in Ottawa, but am no stranger to Vegas... close to 50 trips now. Played 1-2 NL at the Monte Carlo and the MGM Grand.
The Monte Carlo has one NL game during the day, which usually begins at 11am. I play here because my wife likes the 2-4 Limit game, and we know the daytime poker staff, who all have personality. The game here was a real hit and miss. Some of the days, the game was filled with inexperienced players, and other days, there were mostly solid players. With only one game on the go, I played when the game was good, and I left when it wasn't. The 2-4 Limit game has mostly Locals in it. It's mostly a weak/tight game. Locals treat the tourists well in this room. (tourists feel at home)
The MGM was filled with action. Everynight, I counted at least 8 1-2 NL games on the go. The games were profitable, especially when I changed tables. There were some tables that were very aggressive, and others that were weak/passive. Requesting a table change when the game isn't to your liking is important to be profitable, especially when there are 8 games going. Find the right table, and the right seat change if needed. The 2-4 Limit game at the MGM is a little more aggresssive compared to the Monte Carlo, but many of the players are less experienced, or simply play bad.
