Dec 1 MGM (Hooters Look)
I played the MGM exclusively because that is where I stayed for the Andrea Bocelli concert (insert Bud Light joke here). I went with a friend who also plays and the wives of course. We spent a lot of time in the MGM room. Everything said about this room being tourist laden, roomy, good list, in the casino mix, next to the loud bar, etc... is accurate. I like it.
I did not keep precise accounting, but cashed out twice for just about +1000 after two long sessions of 1-2 NL, including all night Sunday. I am an average player (Oklahoma casinos) who plays for fun and I have played in the bigger games, but the compettion is so much weaker in 1-2 NL at MGM. Great action late after 2 am, several $400+ pots with people pushing the chips.
We went to Hooters across the street Sunday afternoon for some wings and football . That poker "room" looked like a home game, but I would definitely stay there and walk to MGM for poker. The MGM hotel is disappointing in my opinion.
I plan all of my trips based on this site. Thanks everyone!
agree on MGM.
where in OK do you play?
If you play anything other than poker, Hooters is very generous with their comped room offers. I've stayed there three times, and really don't care for much other than poker, but even with two hours of .25 video poker play, I get offers for three or more comped nights every month.
Don't even think of playing poker there, though, if you can't stand smoke and/or players who think the WPT is just waiting to discover them. But with MGM and the monorail right across the street, a decent location.
One item of note, 'wichcraft in the back of MGM has some insanely tasty sandwiches. Not cheap, but well worth the cost if you like a good meal on a bun.
I almost always stay at MGM and play there becuase of the amount of tables and the variations of games. I don't know what you do not like about the hotel but I find it impossible to believe that Hooters of all places could be better.
MGM is too big in my opinion and that is about the only thing I don't like about.
I noticed that they didn't have a lot of variation. It was mostly Hold Em. They didn't have very much to choose from in the other games.
You're correct on that but within the LMT and NL games they spread they offer many level and always a lot of action.
I play in Devol Oklahoma, two casinos, Kiowa (newer)and Comanche Red River, these players are fairly tough oil field hands, cotton farmers and blue collar for the most part. They learn to play or go broke.
I sometime splay at Winstar in Thackerville, just 1 hr North of Dallas. This is a very nice room with more money to blow than Devol folks.
Hooters rooms are probably not better than MGM, but they don't require $100 action 4 hours to get comps and I guarantee the food is just as good for the price. For what I play, I think Hooters will do fine. When I take the wife it is Bellagio, Wynn, etc.....

I agree, but what I really hate is the "perfume" smell when you walk into the lobby. Also, it seems a little darker than some of the other casinos.
it is darker than normal in the casino - I guess they have to hide the age a little bit.
the rooms in grand tower are really in need of updating. but they do have the best beds I've slept in.
