Nice Decor. Plush seats- let's just hope the seats won't become worn down and not replaced like they do at the Bellagio when they are broken and stained/dirty.
Things to make note of:
1. Noise
The poker room is located in an area where there is alot of foot traffic leading to the parking lot and next to the slot machines. There's just too much god @#$% noise. You can't hear the other players when they declare a raise or do something verbal because of the slot machines.
2. Parking
the self parkign lot is THE MOST RETARDED PARKING LOT I have ever been to. they have 1 space adjacent to another space where you can't park. It's like this spread out through the entire Aria LOT. I guess you'll just have to experience it for yourself and see what I mean. My only opinion about the lot is that the spacing is set that way because they anticipated higher end clients with BMW's and luxury cars so that these cars have more than enough space not to ding each other.
I was just expecting more from this room, but it meets my expectations
this is based on a 2/5 NLHE game as I play this game and anything higher like 5/10, 10/20 + but the 2/5 was the biggest Holdem game running.
On a side note, I woke up early and went over there at 9:30 in the morning. there was 1 table running, it was a 1/3 NLHE game.
I asked if they could start a list on for the 2/5. The Floor person told me that there were 2 seats open for this 1/3 game and thta originally it was a 2/5 game until a few of the players wanted to change it to a 1/3 game. I guess it ran all night but my point is: How the (CENSORED) can you change limits to a smaller game? I think that's just retarded, it really left a bad taste in my mouth because I came for a 2/5 game and I couldn't get one because these guys pussied out for a smaller game.
The competition isn't really tough, but stupid and annoying.
I rate this a 2 because of the types of players I saw:
Douche bags Tournament plays who attempt to play cash! - I heard from other players who have played at Aria at other poker rooms I went to on the strip that the people who are playing there now are alot the WSOP winners and people who cashed in.
So why were these guys douche bags? becaause 3 guys sit down and they all know each other. They wear the Pokerstars.net logo jackets and other poker paraphenaliaT. hey all make sure everyone knows they each other by reserving their spots when the table opens and they all sit next to each other and check it down when they push everyone out of the pot.
1 guy seemed to be kissing @#$% to 2 other guys and I couldn't figure out why until when he buys in, he pulls out about $3000 in $100 bills and makes sure everyone sees him with his wad. The max on the buy was $500, but he wanted to make sure everyone knew he had $.
Everytime someone bets into the pot , the 3 same douche bags raise. Ace on the flop and you have Ace with a big kicker, you bet. what do they do? they raise. You re-raise, what do they do? Re-raise All in. What do they have? Ace and a 3 kicker. But guess what, a 3 comes on the turn or the river and you just lost all your $...
I had no complaints, but I just couldn't give it a 5 for some reason. They did their job, nothing more. They did their job, were polite and I felt like I liked the dealers here just a little bit more than the one's at the Bellagio. We'll have to see over time because it seems like MGM properties lose their touch after a while. I guess I just feel this way about MGM properties, they have that corporate feel..
I gave it average because:
-The service was decent speed
-The orders were correct. I asked for an iced coffee and it came in a disposable coffee cup. That was a nice touch because I could take my coffee to go whenever I decided to leave.
-Looks wise: They looked attractive but did not stand out, then again, I'm here to play poker. I could use the $ I won to go to a Nudie bar but some people I know are psycho and they go to places where the waitresses are hot because they want to undress them with their eyes all day...
I guess my only complaint is that they were so busy that they didnt come around to check on us because of all hte people there.
I've been to other rooms on the strip where the service was just much better.
It's an MGM property... that's all I have to say
As far as I've been told, the comps points aren't even able to be used as of yet. Specifically for Poker room comps, I was told that they were "working on it" so you don't even know where you can use the points and when. They aren't in effect as of yet.
MGM is broke, so for them to strike a deal with the different restaurants and cafes at all of their properties would cost them a considerable amount of $.
