We (and 5 of our friends) recently visited Vegas, and we stayed in Excalibur Hotel.
It was an economical choice at the time, not a big hit to a student's wallet. Four of us were here to play poker and not much else.
My overall experience was "a very good poker room, but a low quality hotel room. So if you are on a limited budget, it is a good choice. But if you can spend more and comfort if higher on you list, other resorts may be a better option".
The pros and cons of the resort are as follows:
pros:
1- good value and economical stay (220$ per person including flight+hotel-3-night-stay)
2- very friendly dealers
3- the overall poker room environment was friendly
4- reasonable entry daily tourneys: 40$
5- reasonable admin fee 40$=29$entry+11$admin fee. Rio is better at 50$=40$+10$ but MonteCarlo is worse at 40$=25$+15$
6- changed our room fast and easy when it had a problem
cons:
1- the rooms were not very high quality (not that I expected a luxury room with this price but still).
2- very noisy environment. One side of the building was very noisy (I don't know what it was, but it was like a constant fan noise). We had to change our rooms because I could not sleep the first night.
3- The first room, the radiator did not work, another reason to change the room
4- they charged a fee (some 20$ or so) when checking in. It would be nice if they could say there is such a fee beforehand.
5- the buffet in the hotel was NOT good at all. Not a lot of good places to eat in the hotel. We walked out to eat at Subway.
