Small area past the Starbucks as you enter off of Fremont st. Nice tables and chairs (Around 8 total) I played on a Wed. evening, they had a tourney still running on 2 tables and 2 tables of 2/4 and 1 table of 4/8 which soon broke up. While I was there they also were starting up a NL game which had 3-4 players. It was a little loud being close to slots and the snack bar. Quite a hike to the bathroom so you definately missed a few hands when you left the table. Later on at night, the casino overall was really rockin. lots of music, dancing and generally people partying and gambling hard.
The rodeo was in town and this table was all tourists like me out for a good time! Definately Loose/Passive (Lots of calling and not much raising) It seemed that a little over half had some experience and the rest of the players had limited experience including the toal newbie who just wanted to try poker out every once in a while. Fun game with chatty friendly players.
No complaints, the rake is a little high at 10% up to $4.00
The dealers were all very friendly and contributed to the fun atmosphere.
The Golden Nugget had the best drink service bar none of any casino downtown! I think we had 2 waitresses working just the poker area and I could get one every 5 minutes if I wanted. Yee-Ha, I'm partying with the cowboys!
Fast & Friendly, I saw one mgr even jump in and start dealing instead of making players wait for a dealer.
I played 2/4 for 4 hrs and got a $10 comp for the snack bar.
No jackpot hands was a bummer.
