Very disappointed with how number of players per table was handled in such a big tournament. The standard has been (at least prior to the Lodge taking over), and should be, that tournaments play 9 handed as much as possible with players moved and tables balanced so no tables get too short. I completely understand that there may be open seats here and there at each table while registration is open so late registering players fill in empty seats at existing tables rather than all being put at the same newly opened table. As such, Lodge appears to have the policy of leaving the 5 seat open at every table until registration closes. Considering registration in the million guarantee was open for 4 hours of play, leaving a seat open for that entire time seems way too long, but i can live with 8-max for 4 hours if in fact all the other seats get refilled very quickly after someone busts. But that definitely did not happen at my table. For the 4 hours of open registration, i would estimate my table had:
8 players for 30 mins
7 players for 105 mins
6 players for 90 mins
5 players for 15 mins
Feel free to check the tape for table 12 on 8/9/24's flight to see if I'm exaggerating...I don't think i am. If my math is right, that averages out to about 6 2/3 players over the first 4 hours of the tournament. I asked the floor a couple times about getting our empty seats filled with the response one time being that 6 handed is not considered unbalanced. I'm sorry, but that sucks unless the tournament is advertised as short handed or 6 max. Essentially, the message is there won't be full tables until 4 hours in and over half the field as gone. I'm not interested if that's how it's going to be and I don't think I'm alone. Please fix that going forward.
