'Teething Problem' Really?

Should one of the biggest names in global gaming and hotels be given any slack when they open a $4.5BN. Facility? I really don't think so. Opening at the back end of the Vegas Gaming disaster you would have thought that these guys would have had the cream of the crop to chose from when hiring... but sadly no. As a strip regular poker player and Las Vegas local, I thought I would give this place a test drive. Based on my one and only experience on the opening weekend, and comparing with my regular rooms at Wynn, Venetian, Aria and Bellagio, my first impressions are:
First the positives: Easy to get on the waiting lists with the online app: Room clean and staff very friendly: Good spread of games: Comfortable chairs: New chips: Accommodating managers: Easy to locate from parking garage: Parking easy and no charge yet: Good sized room and 30 tables: very soft players: Very easy to get a players card: 24 Hour play:
Second the negatives: For a new poker room on the strip, staff not really too hyped about their new gig which reflects upon the players: The room has no atmosphere: The back room is almost like an after thought: Should be $2 comps until they get their $&@t together: No cup holders at the tables, couple of spills during my 7 hour session:
I will give them the benefit of the doubt, give them time to catch up a bit and will return. Based upon the investment and quality of the Casino, I am sure they want upmarket visitors and regulars and the poker room should have benchmarks like the Aria, Wynn and Venetian. If they don't step up their game Thai room will become a nicer version of the Orleans, Flamingo, Bally or Harrahs. I hope not but instead become another quality room.
