Over its opening week, I played a total 10 hours in this room, mostly 2/4. Since it just opened the day I got there, everything was brand new and well organized. The plasmas everywhere were a great touch, and the room had a relaxed, open feel. My only problem was with the chairs, which were comfy enough, but didn’t swivel.
This however didn’t stop Johnny Chan from stopping by. He and the manager of the room go way back, so to generate some buzz, he came over and played 200/400 NL with two other pros. Needless to say the room filled up quickly after that with management spreading whatever it could to satisfy the demand.
It was a mixed bag, but tended to be good. The first day, I found myself playing with two off duty dealers from the Mirage, plus another guy they knew who had just gotten out of dealer school and was looking for a job. These guys knew what they were doing. Mixed in with that were some above average recreational players, and some fools getting quietly drunk and waiting around for the show at the Siren’s Cove. The second and third day, the games were a little splashy (6 or 7 to the flop), and were comprised of mostly recreational players looking to try their hand at the game. Very enjoyable to play there.
Most of the dealers were well trained, but some were obviously inexperienced. Several had dealt elsewhere (The Mirage, etc.) and it showed. Saw a couple of flashes, but those were mostly bonehead mistakes from people mucking their cards.
Great. From what I could tell, there was always a least one or two who were dedicated to the room. They moved fast and took good care of everyone.
Excellent. The staff was well trained, and was making a concerted effort to not only know the players, but go above and beyond in the service department. This includes having one of them run after one of the cocktail waitresses where she didn’t see I needed a drink. As an added bonus, the two young ladies they had managing the room (out of a total of four assistant managers) were knockouts.
$1 per hour for every hour played.
