I think this is my favorite place to play within 20 minutes or so.
The one plate of food was quite good, and $40 of food is comp'd every 4 hours of cash play.
Service is a little slow, and there's no way to just grab your own water, so that's not a good combo.
I played a late night session. Full cadre of players. Some obvious pros or near pros. A lot of recreational players (like myself). Some OMCs. Definitely a lot of action.
I agree with the reviews that it's not the most pristine card room, but it's not terrible.
I saw one review of different chip diameters. I didn't experience that in the 1, 5, or 25 denominations. That said, the 1 chips have several different color sets, one of which is white and pink which looks a lot like a faded red 5. Not a fan of that.
I don't shuffle chips any more, but if you do, that will be tough. Chips stuck together even when making simple bets. Management has got to do something about that to stay viable with the seemingly saturated poker market of Houston in early 2023.
Dealers are average to above average. I didn't see any major faults. One mis-deal here or there. No mis-read hands/winners that I noted.
Recommendations to managers:
1) start working thru the chip population to clean or discard confusing chips and sticky chips.
2) take a couple of tables out of the room for a while. The room will feel bigger and start working thru cleaning the tables.
