Went to sign up for a membership (as is the case with all social poker rooms) around 4:30pm and wanted to play 1/2 no limit. They had one 1/2 table, one 1/3 table, and one 1 PLO table going. Unfortunately when they started the free roll tournament at 5pm, every single 1/2 player got up and played in it, killing the game.
The owner graciously gave me an extra hour of free time (there's no rake, you pay $10 by the hour to play) because he saw I was patiently waiting for a 1/2 game to start back up.
There's free sodas, bottled waters, snacks (Pringles and the like), and they brought in pizza around dinner time. Again, all of this is free - unlike Caesar's southern Indiana where you have to pay $5 for a measly side of fries.
The poker chips there are nice and (of course) brand new. They don't stick together like Caesar's southern Indiana's chips do.
There's no shuffler machines here, but half the ones at Caesars don't work anyway, so they cancel each other out.
The owner of Club Jaqk seems to genuinely want to cater to members/poker players, unlike the owner(s) of Caesar's southern Indiana who don't give 2 ***** about poker players.
I've seen numerous numerous people (mainly Caesars employees) talk bad about his place, but the truth is it's much better than Caesar's poker room and you're actually appreciated and welcomed here at Club Jaqk instead of being harassed and treated like garbage at Caesar's.
There's also concern about Club Jaqk potentially shutting down. From my understanding, in the state of Kentucky, it's up to each city/county's District Attorney to make the call whether their county can have social poker rooms. This is why Moneymaker's club was first approved in Paducah, but then Paducah got a new DA and the new DA was against poker rooms there, so he shut it down.
It seems Louisville's DA has given the ok for poker rooms, and she's going to be in office for the foreseeable future, so I don't see Club Jaqk shutting down anytime soon.
I've been waiting 17 years for Louisville to have it's own poker room, and Club Jaqk definitely gets my stamp of approval.
