A lot of drama has ensued recently which lead to a change in ownership/management. The poker manager now, to my knowledge, is in another state and just consults with the owner on how to run the room. So there’s no on-site poker manager. That’s not good, imo.
They’ve pretty much stopped with any regular promotions. You used to be able to spin the wheel where you could win anything from time for your seat in cash games to free chips (money), but they did away with that.
Another complaint is whenever they do serve food on the weekends or holidays, it’s late in the evening - like around 9 or 10pm. I’m a tournament player and tourneys end by 10pm so unless you stick around for cash games, you don’t get dinner. I came to play a 4pm tournament today and with it being New Year’s, I was *hoping* they would have dinner around normal dinner hours (5 to 6pm), but that didn’t happen.
All that said, I still recommend Club Jaqk and hope that it succeeds. But it has definitely hit some bumps in the road and is not where I expected it to be at the 3 month mark. The owner is a really nice guy who seems to want to run an honest room, and I still will be a monthly member.
