Non-smokers paradise

Unlike most places around Vegas, Harrah's actually has an enclosed poker room. The "rail" is replaced by a huge window that allows the railbirds to watch. Smokers can still catch a quick drag in between blinds while keepeing an eye on the action. But for those of us who don't want breath in the stuff, this is the room to play. I was quite impressed with the quiet in the room considering that the Carnaval Court is next door. Occasionally, you'll feel the bass of the drums when someone opens the second set of double doors leading outside, but overall, this place was perfect for poker & watching the game.

Apparently, Harrahs was hosting some big WSOP invitational tourney for their "high rollers". This meant a lot of poker action from baccarat, dice & pai gow players.

Unlike most places we visited, the dealers here were friendly & professional. The 3-6 limit game seemed to have a lot more joking & laughter than the 1-2 & 2-5 NL games. If you interact with them, they're quite friendly. As the stakes increased, they tended to just shut up & deal. Experienced dealers all around. Pretty much what I expected since most of them have dealt the WSOP.

You're definitely not going to find the long legged, perky 22 yr old serving you drinks. The cocktail waitresses tended to be much older than what you might expect for Vegas. Overall, the drinks were pretty quick.

Management was good. Except for getting a comp, we didn't have much interaction. We did see them 86 a guy for dropping a few too many F-bombs. Player list was wasy to see on the screen behind the counter.

$1 per hour seems to be the Vegas standard. The High Hand jackpots were a nice bonus for my straight flush. No bad beat jackpot, although I was informed that one was coming soon that would involve all of the Harrahs properties. 40 hours of live action play also gets you into the freeroll tournament for the next month for a seat in the WSOP main event.
