We were driving back from a road trip along Route 81 and decided to hop over to Charles Town and stop for the night and play some cards.
We were very pleased to find an active poker room!
Cocktails were free, which was a nice change from Florida. The day we were there the tables were jammed (some high hand promotion of some sort), so the service was slower than we would have liked.
Dealers were friendly. Floor was excellent.
Plenty of TVs around the room to watch races/sports/ext.
The competition was fairly stiff at the 1/2 NL game I played at. The players seemed to be regulars and were playing a tight aggressive style. There was not much loose money to be had. Only one or two of the players seemed to be trying to give away money.
My wife played at a 3/6 limit game. And they were ALL trying to give away their stacks. They were there for the high hand promotion. And once they got started in a hand, they wanted to see it out. Staying ahead of the rake in 3/6 is tough, but if there was ever a table to do it, it was here.
As a side note, we ate at Seven Dragons, and it was excellent!
