Fun Place to Play

As others have noted, it's not really a room but rather a section off a main hallway. Relatively low ceilings and flood lights caused some glare on the cards. Really wish the tables had automatic shufflers to keep things moving faster. On the plus side, chairs are comfortable for a long session and tables are in good condition. Important note - their tables have a "barbed wire" ring in the middle. If you move a stack of chips over that wire, it is considered to be in the pot. So if you want to bet $10 in NL and move $40 over the line...all $40 is in the pot. Just announce your intentions first ("bet $10, for example") and you'll be safe.

Played some 2/4 limit, some 3/6 limit, and mostly 1/2 no-limit with $100 max buy-in. The competition at the limit tables was very easy with a couple people with some knowledge but most people seemed to be inexperienced. At the NL tables, flops were frequently played 6 handed limped in for minimum $2. Saw some middle pairs and Ace/bad kicker combos call some large bets at the NL tables. All in all, there's some money to be made there.

Most of the dealers were good. They were talkative, kept the action going, and best of all, knew what they were doing. Two were excellent - Chad and Josh. "Young" David was also very good. As a group I only give a 4 though because one hand was badly botched by a dealer. A player lost an all-in bet and the dealer didn't count out the chips before pushing the pot. There was no way to know how much the loser owed. Also, they get a 4 because a few of them could have moved faster.

I was never left thirsty. They brought drinks at a good pace for my tastes. Several of the waitresses were easy on the eyes. All were pleasant to deal with.

On the plus side, they handled the botched hand from above really well. They were as fair as could be, offered extra comps to both players and put an Imperial Palace hat in the next pot as an apology to all the players for the inconvenience. On the down side, they didn't handle table changes well at all so I had to remind them of my request.

$3 an hour is excellent. If you're not staying there, the Burger Palace is a great place to exchange those comps as they make an excellent breakfast for low cost. The cookies, sandwiches, coffee, and doughnuts were good quality and a nice added extra.
