Unexpectedly good experience

The room is attractive, with several flat screens high on the walls showing sports. A few screens are also used to display information on running games, waiting lists and interest lists. This makes it easy to find out what your options are without having to approach some serious guy in a suit and ask for help. There are no serious guys in suits in this poker room anyway.

Chairs are comfortable. The only negative I noitced was that chips, cards, and table felt seemed sticky. This makes it hard to slide things around on table without fear of making a mistake. I noticed the same thing at Commerce in LA, so maybe that's just normal for a busy public poker room.

The poker room, like the TI hotel itself, is obviously trying to appeal to a young, fun crowd. The atmosphere and attitude in the poker room was laid back and fun.

Usually two to three good players at the 1-3 NL table when I was there. These players gained money while everyone else lost money. After a bit of time in the room, it became very easy to spot the difference and adjust. It was very common for people to join the 1-3 NL game for the min $100, lose it fairly quickly, and leave. Some would rebuy for another $100 and try again.

I don't have much experience in poker rooms, but the dealers seemed competent to me. Some were very friendly and pleasant, some were just stoic, but none were unprofessional. I saw very few dealer mistakes.

Cocktail service was inconsistent. Sometimes quick and attentive, other times slow or missing completely.

I have very little experience with poker rooms, but these people seemed to have their act together. Definitely no complaints.

I didn't inquire about comps, but from what I understand they are fairly standard.
