The room is amazing. Lots of room between the tables. Great atmosphere. Tuesday and Thursday evening Roast Beef carving station. The room is off the main casino with a half wall on one side and full walls on the other three. So you feel like you are in the casino, but it is far enough away that you are not impacted by it. Nice music, great lighting and comfortable chairs. It seemed like there was a plasma TV everywhere you looked. It would be nice to see the Venetian room take over the Belagio as the "top" room in Vegas. I would definitely play here again.
I played 1-2 NL. I was there Monday morning through Friday afternoon. Every table I played seemed to have a good mix of bad, average and excellent players (I would rate myself average). Some of the bad players dipped into their wallets over and over. The players were always friendly and I really enjoyed playing.
Pete, Josh, Christopher and Frank made playing the game a lot of fun. They were great. Very personable and they knew how to deal. Others were good. Very few mistakes, but average personalities. Now the bad. One dealer kept telling everyone how to protect their cards, where to place their bets, how to place their bets, when to do this, when to do that. It was really annoying. And twice he merged the main pot with the side pot, luckily they were easy to recreate. This guy drops the overall rating to a 4 from a 5.
Smoking hot and fast. What more could you ask for. And you can get Fiji water, instead of recycled Venetian branded tap water.
One cocktail waitress kept asking every single player at the table individually if they wanted anything, even if they were involved in a hand. That was a little annoying, but easily overlooked!
This almost went from a 5 to a 1, but Ari the room manager took care of the situation and stepped up and bought me lunch. I was head to head with a player in a cash game and he went all in. I flipped over my cards while I made my decision to call. I made the call and lost about $150. Within thirty seconds a junior floor manager came over and told me at the table not to expose my cards before I made the call. The table and I were surprised by this. I understand that it is not allowed in a tourney, but this was a cash game. I was also extremely disappointed at his timing. He could have discussed it with me later not 30 seconds after I call $150 dollar all in and lose. Ari told me the Venetian does not 'encourage' that move. But, the table said it happens all the time, and this was the first time anyone had ever heard anyone get scolded for it in a cash game. But Ari took care of me and my wife, so all is well. Thank you Ari.
Standard $1 per hour for a 1-2 NL game. No jackpots or extras. Roast beef carving station on Tues and Thursday night was nice.
