Nice room. Very spacacious. Seats are comfortable. You can lean back in them without too many problems. The rake is rather high for the no limit games - 10%. Plenty of times there was $40 in the pot and the dealer dropped $4 with the winner receiving $36. In a tight game, there is no way to make any money with that kind of rake. Most other casinos only drop 5%.
During the week, there are really only 2 kinds of games being spread - 2/5 no limit holdem and 4/8 limit holdem, with several games of each. This past weekend they tried to start a 5/10 NLH game, but could not find enough players. Sometimes they manage to start a 9/18 game, but with $1 and $5 chips. Since most players are not that familiar with 9/18, it takes too long to put the right amount of money into the pot. They are better off spreading a 10/20 game because more hands will be played per hour.
The action at times is good. I won just over $1K playing the 2/5 NLH in one session last week when there were several tourists playing and few locals in my game. However, that was one session out of 4. In my other sessions, including opening night, the action has been rather disappointing. There are many locals playing, but as they realize the high rake and tight action, they may decide to play elsewhere. So, in the future, the games might actually improve to the point where it is worthwhile to drop in and take a gander at the games.
As mentioned by another reviewer, Lance is one of the best dealers. Some dealers are good. Some dealers are below par with little if any dealing experience. One dealer made a mistake when he dealt in a player by mistake and declared a mis-deal when I had AA. The rule is that the hand should be declared dead instead and play should continue. When I asked the floorman what the rule is, he confirmed that it should not have been a mis-deal and informed the dealer of the rule.
Reasonable service.
Have not witnessed any bad decisions. Most mgmt seems knowledgeable and quite experienced with poker. When the game gets short, some mgmt have been quite willing to reduce the rake. $1 per hand for the 2/5 is what one guy said. However, most of them order the full rake to be taken for a 6 handed game, which is too much IMHO. The game has to be very good in order for me to be inspired to stay.
They offer $1/hour comp towards food. Order from the large menu (Cafe De Lux?) to avoid overpaying. The one meal I had was quite good as well as being very healthy with generous portions and lots of vegetables. You can eat at the table, and the floorpeople actually brings your food. When I tried to order some food on opening night, the waitor handed me a menu and disappeared, never to be seen again. I went home hungry. A friend of mine complained that it took 3 or 4 hours for him to order a meal the other day. A couple of nights ago, when I ordered - it only took about 50 minutes or so - a noticeable improvement.
