While I would agree that the Venetian is usually the best room in Vegas, when they're running their Deep Stack tournament, the cash players suffer. The lists seemed longer than usual, management was too busy to keep the tables full, cocktails were hard to get, and many of the dealers were HORRIBLE. The WSOP occurring at the same time possibly didn't help the dealer situation.
Venetian always has the full range of competition. With so many tables at any time, you just need to find the table with the players you want.
Usually their dealers are very good, on my last trip, they were HORRIBLE. Mis-reading hands, incorrectly chopped pots (Omaha), frequent misdeals, poor table management in general. Several also seemed confused by the new tableside player sign-in / sign-out procedure.
Their cocktails are good, top quality, but when the room is extremely busy, service is SLOW.
Sign-ups were more confused than usual, the floor was too busy to fill games, we frequently were missing 2-3 players for 20-30+ minutes, even though there was a waiting list for our game type. I hope all of this can be attributed to the frenzy for their Deep Stack tournament.
It's nice not having a $1 jackpot drop, the food comps are average.
